Hey guys. My name is Aaron from Happy Camper Live. I’m the Outdoor Adventure counselor. Today I’m going to teach you how to tie some basic knots that can help you in any situation that you might need. The first knot we’re going to learn is an overhand knot. This is also known as a granny knot and is often used as a stopper knot. It can be used if you are tying things down or if you don’t want your rope to fall through. Start with one end of rope in each hand. Then, put one end over the other, tuck it under, and pull. The next knot we’re going to learn is a reef knot. You use a reef knot if you need to join two ends of rope together. Start by taking one piece of rope and put it over the other rope and tuck it under. Then, tuck the other end of rope over the first piece of rope, tuck it under, and pull. Now you have two pieces of rope joined together that you can use like a single piece of rope. The last knot we’re going to learn is called a clove hitch. This knot is used to anchor things down like trailers or anything you pull that needs to stay in place for an extended period of time. Start by taking the end of the rope, and lay it over your arm. This end is called the climber. The climber goes up the hill, around the top, down the hill, and as he gets to the bottom, he sees a cave, goes through the cave, and pulls it tight. You should have a cross over with two pieces of rope underneath.
