Family activities
Is your child a fan of baseball like Big Nate? Or maybe your child prefers a more artistic hobby like cartooning? Whatever their interest, there’s an after-school activity that is perfect for them!
After-school activities are a great way to keep kids engaged and learning after the school day ends. If your child isn’t in an after-school club or activity, you may be wondering whether they’re getting the enrichment they need.
Now is a great time to start thinking about getting your kids involved. There are so many benefits to after-school clubs and activities! That’s why Happy Camper Live partnered with Paramount+ and their new series Big Nate, to bring inspiring after school activities right to your home.
After-school programs can reduce risky behaviors and promote emotional, physical, and social development. They provide safe spaces where kids have the flexibility to be themselves and try a fun activity while under adult supervision. They’ll build positive relationships with other kids and adults while doing something meaningful.
If your kids are trying to figure out what they’re interested in, joining a club is a great way to explore the options.
It’s all about trying and discovering, kind of like a trial and error strategy. Nate Wright only spent three days in the debate club, but he tried it.
Eventually, he found his place in the chess club and on the baseball team. Some might say his ability to come up with pranks and nicknames for his teachers are other talents, although his teachers might disagree.
Regardless, your youngster will find their place! They just need to do a bit of exploring first.
After-school activities allow kids to translate what they learned in the classroom into the real world. If your kid is playing sports, they’ll learn to work as a team toward a common goal. If they’re acting on the stage, they’ll learn to communicate with others.
The key is finding a new hobby your child loves.
Sports, dance, and traditional after-school games like tag will keep your kids active. Kids who develop healthy activity levels at a younger age are more likely to continue being active into adulthood.
Set your kids up with a healthy lifestyle by encouraging them to be active early on.
Kids need to socialize with other kids. Even Nate needs his best friends, Francis and Teddy.
But sometimes, kids need a little help making friends. If your kid isn’t a natural social butterfly, signing them up for an after-school program or club can help them make pals.
After-school programs provide a built-in structure that can help kids feel more comfortable interacting with new people. These programs will also help your child befriend others with similar interests or hobbies.
Happy Camper Live together with Big Nate, brings a full slate of after-school activity programs perfect for kids of all ages.
In the theater club, kids will learn about realistic acting.
Art club is perfect for those creative kiddos who want to make a bandana pillow or learn to draw their own comics like Big Nate. Learn how to create a comic strip, write a joke, and turn your comic strips into a book.
If your kids are excited about sports, check out our sports club and learn to pitch a baseball like a pro.
Kids that just want to rock out like Fear the Mollusk from Big Nate can join the band and play the drums, write songs, learn guitar basics, or design their own band poster.
With so many virtual clubs, there’s bound to be one that your kids will love!
