Spooky Camp Games for Halloween

Written By: happycamper

One of the best things about camp is the way games bring everyone together. Halloween is the perfect excuse to take classic camp games and give them a spooky twist. These activities are easy to set up, require minimal supplies, and are great for backyard parties, school events, or just a fun family night at home.

#1 Pumpkin Tic-Tac-Toe

Turn a simple game of tic-tac-toe into a festive fall activity. Use mini pumpkins (orange vs. white) as the Xs and Os, and tape out a large grid on the ground or table. Kids can play again and again, and it doubles as a cute party decoration.

#2 Mummy Sack Race

A silly twist on the classic sack race! Instead of burlap sacks, wrap kids’ legs in strips of toilet paper or white fabric. Then, line them up and have them “hop” to the finish line without unwrapping. Expect lots of giggles as mummies tumble their way across the yard.

#3 Ghost Flashlight Tag

After dark, gather the kids for a spooky version of flashlight tag. One player is the “ghost” and has the flashlight. When the beam lands on you, you’re frozen until another player “rescues” you by tagging your hand. It’s a great way to bring that camp night-game energy into Halloween.

#4 Zombie Freeze Dance

Put on a Halloween playlist and let the kids dance like zombies. When the music stops, they have to “freeze” in their best spooky pose. Anyone who moves is out until the next round. This one is a fun, low-prep game that works for kids of all ages.

These activities are more than just fun. They capture that classic camp spirit of imagination, teamwork, and play. With a few pumpkins, glow sticks, and a little creativity, you can turn an ordinary backyard or living room into a Halloween “camp” full of spooky fun.
