There’s nothing like sitting around the campfire on a crisp fall night, telling stories, laughing with friends, and best of all—eating tasty campfire food! Fall is the perfect time to make warm, comforting recipes that are super easy to cook over the fire.
This hearty chili is perfect for keeping warm, and it’s made just for kids in individual cups. Get ready for a cozy meal!
Ingredients: 1 lb ground beef or turkey (ask an adult to help cook this), 1 can black beans, drained, 1 can diced tomatoes, 1/2 cup shredded cheese, salt and pepper to taste, and optional toppings like sour cream, green onions, and crushed tortilla chips.
Directions: In a big campfire pot, have an adult cook the ground meat until it’s brown. Add the beans and tomatoes to the pot, and stir. Let the chili cook for about 10 minutes, stirring now and then. Scoop into cups, sprinkle cheese on top, and add any toppings you like.
Who doesn’t love mac ‘n’ cheese? This gooey recipe is quick to make and easy to share with friends!
Ingredients: 2 cups elbow pasta (pre-cook this at home if possible), 1 cup shredded cheese of choice, 1/2 cup milk, salt and pepper to taste, and crumbled bacon bits.
Directions: In a small campfire pot, heat the milk until it’s warm (an adult can help with this). Add the cheese and stir until it melts. Mix in the pasta, and let everything heat up together for about 5 minutes. Spoon into bowls, add bacon bits if you want, and enjoy the cheesy goodness!
Craving pizza at the campfire? These pizza quesadillas are a fun and easy way to get all those cheesy, saucy flavors without needing an oven!
Ingredients: Flour tortillas (1 per quesadilla), 1/4 cup pizza sauce, 1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, toppings of choice: pepperoni slices, sliced bell peppers, mushrooms, or olives, and aluminum foil.
Directions: Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce on one tortilla. Sprinkle cheese evenly over the sauce and add your favorite toppings. Place another tortilla on top to make a “pizza sandwich.” Wrap the quesadilla in foil and place it near the edge of the campfire (not directly in the flames). Let it cook for about 5 minutes, then flip and cook for another 5 minutes until the cheese is melted. Carefully open the foil, and enjoy your gooey campfire pizza. These are fun because everyone can customize their pizza quesadilla with toppings of their choice.
