Outdoor adventure
One of the best parts of camping is the creativity it inspires! Whether you’re gathered around the campfire, hanging out in a cozy cabin, or enjoying nature at a local park, camping crafts are the perfect way to engage young minds and make lasting memories. These fun and easy projects are ideal for kids of all ages—and most can be made with items found in nature or around the campsite.
Nature Collage ArtGrab a paper plate, piece of cardboard, or a blank journal page and let kids collect leaves, twigs, flowers, and small pebbles to create a nature-themed masterpiece. Add glue and let them arrange their findings into a unique collage. It’s a great way to explore creativity and the outdoors at the same time.
Give kids a handful of smooth rocks and some paint or markers and let their imaginations run wild! They can create bugs, animals, monsters, or even paint inspiring messages. These make great decorations for around the campsite or keepsakes to remember the trip.
Turn two empty toilet paper rolls into a pair of play binoculars! Tape them together, decorate with stickers or markers, and add a string to wear them around the neck. Then send your campers on a nature scavenger hunt to test them out!
Place a leaf under a sheet of paper and rub a crayon or pencil over the top to reveal the intricate patterns of the leaf. Try different types and sizes to create a full-page forest print! It’s a simple way to blend art and science.
This classic camp craft never goes out of style. Kids can braid colorful embroidery floss or yarn into bracelets for themselves and their bunkmates. It’s a great way to promote friendship and fine motor skills.
Pinecone CrittersCollect some pinecones and turn them into adorable animals or mythical creatures using googly eyes, pipe cleaners, feathers, and glue. Think owls, foxes, or even dragons—there’s no limit to what a pinecone can become with a little imagination.
Paint small rocks with simple images (a tent, a bear, a tree, a flashlight) and use them as prompts for storytelling. Each child can pick a stone and add a line to a group story based on the image. It’s a fun way to wind down at the end of the day and boost creative thinking. With these awesome camping crafts, your little campers will stay engaged, entertained, and inspired.
Happy crafting—and happy camping!
