Composting is taking all of your old food scraps and recyclable items, and putting them into one container that will eventually turn into soil over time. This soil can then be used to help plants grow! Cool, right? A few things that can go in your compost bin are bread, unbleached napkins, and seedless fruits and vegetables!
If you get your water from plastic water bottles, be sure to recycle them instead of throwing them in the trash. When you can, choose a reusable water bottle or reusable dishware. If you’re getting takeout, tell them you don’t need silverware, and use what you’ve got at home.
Walking is not only a great way to exercise, but it also protects the environment from the harsh chemicals that are released from cars. Doesn’t that make you feel good? These days we could all use a little extra time outside to explore nature and relax.
When your cashier at the grocery store is bagging up your groceries, pull out your reusable shopping bag. If stores aren’t allowing you to bring your own bags in, try to reduce the number of bags you need by carrying out bulky items or just wheeling them out in the cart. You can also opt for paper bags, and recycle them.
Not only does this save energy, but it also keeps the space at a cool temperature. It is always hot in the summer; keeping the lights off will be a huge plus!
It is always important to save water! It is a very important resource that should be used appropriately.
