5 Milkshake Recipes To Make on National Milk Day

Written By: happycamper

Today is National Milk Day, so we want to share the benefits of this tasty beverage, and give you some ideas on how to celebrate!

National Milk Day commemorates the day the first milk deliveries in glass bottles began in the U.S. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, milk contributes nutrients like calcium, vitamin D and potassium to the diet, and is shown to be linked to improved bone health in children and adolescents. For kids not taking regular vitamins, milk helps them get those necessary nutrients.

Milk is fun to use for so many recipes like baked goods and hot chocolate, but today we’re talking milkshakes!

Here are 5 milkshake recipes to drink on National Milk Day.

Chocolate Milkshake

Combine vanilla ice cream, milk, and chocolate syrup for a simple chocolate milkshake. Add your favorite chocolate candy for a boost of flavor. Make it mint chocolate by adding Junior Mints.

Cookies N Creme Milkshakecookie milkshake

Combine milk, vanilla ice cream and Oreos in a blender. Pour the cookie milkshake into a glass and top with whipped cream and an Oreo. You can substitute your favorite cookie in to make the shake that flavor!

Peanut Butter Milkshake

If you are obsessed with peanut butter, why not combine it with milk and vanilla ice cream for a deliciously cream milkshake with a little protein? Top with crushed peanuts and whipped cream. Alternatively, instead of peanut butter you could use some crushed Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups to give it a peanut butter and chocolate flavor.

The Rootbeer Float

Generally we don’t even call this one a milkshake, it’s just a “root beer float.” In actuality the rootbeer float has all of the same ingredients a milkshake would have — ice cream (made with milk) and root beer. It’s an easy classic that is always a crowd pleaser. Pour some root beer soda over vanilla ice cream.

Vanilla Coconut Milkshakemilkshakes

If you’re a fan of coconut, this is the one for you. Blend coconut milk with vanilla ice cream and shredded coconut. You can use regular milk too, but just add more shredded coconut to give it flavor. Top with additional shredded coconut.

What are your favorite milkshake recipes? Share your milkshake creations to the Campfire so we can see them!
