One of the most magical parts of camp is when the sun goes down and the fun keeps going. Whether it’s campfire stories, glow-stick games, or nighttime hikes, kids love the thrill of things that light up in the dark. This Halloween, you can bring that same camp magic home with glow-in-the-dark crafts that are equal parts spooky and fun. These projects are simple, inexpensive, and perfect for kids of all ages.
Supplies to Keep on HandBefore you get started, gather a few basics that will come in handy for multiple crafts: glow sticks, mason jars, neon paint or glow-in-the-dark paint, glitter, tape, and simple camp staples like twine, rocks, and sticks.
#1 Glow Stick Lanterns
Crack a few glow sticks and place them inside mason jars. Add black construction paper cutouts (bats, ghosts, or pumpkins) on the outside to create glowing Halloween lanterns. Perfect for lighting up a backyard campout or a trick-or-treat path.
#2 Painted Glow Rocks
Collect smooth rocks (just like a nature hike at camp). Paint them with glow-in-the-dark paint in fun Halloween designs. Think glowing jack-o’-lantern faces, spooky eyes, or stars. Line them along a walkway to create a glowing path.
#3 DIY Firefly Jars
A camp classic with a Halloween twist! Use glow-in-the-dark paint or neon glitter glue to make tiny dots on the inside of a jar. When the lights go off, it looks like a jar of captured fireflies. Add a plastic spider inside for a spooky surprise.
#4 Glowing Slime
Slime is always a hit with kids, and adding glow powder or glow-in-the-dark paint makes it even better. Make a batch of green or orange slime and call it “witch’s ooze”. This craft is perfect for a Halloween party craft table.
#5 Neon Friendship Bracelets
Friendship bracelets are a camp staple, and you can make them Halloween-ready with neon embroidery thread or glow-in-the-dark cord. Kids will love wearing them while trick-or-treating. They also double as fun AND safety gear.
These crafts aren’t just fun to make, they also add an instant Halloween atmosphere. Use the lanterns to light up your porch, let kids play with glow rocks in the backyard, or hand out firefly jars as party favors. The best part? Each one captures that spark of camp magic while making your Halloween night feel extra bright and memorable.
