Apple Nachos: A Sweet Fall Treat for Kids

Written By: happycamper

A build-your-own snack that’s just as fun to make as it is to eat!

apple nachosWhile pumpkin spice might be the headline flavor of the season, apples deserve their moment too – especially when they’re transformed into a delicious, customizable, kid-approved treat: apple nachos!

Apple nachos are the ultimate fall snack. They can be made in under 10 minutes, they’re fun to assemble, and they feel like dessert without all the extra sugar. This is one of those snacks that doubles as an activity, especially if you let kids build their own plates.

Ingredients to Get Started

Here’s what you’ll need for a basic apple nacho setup. Feel free to mix and match based on what your family loves or what you have on hand:

Base:

• 2–3 crisp apples (Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Granny Smith work well)

• A splash of lemon juice to prevent browning

Drizzles (choose 1–2):

• Peanut butter or almond butter (warm slightly for easy drizzling)

• Caramel sauce

• Melted chocolate or chocolate syrup

• Vanilla Greek yogurt

Topping Options (choose a few!):

• Mini chocolate chips

• Crushed pretzels

• Granola or cereal

• Raisins or dried cranberries

• Shredded coconut

• Crushed graham crackers

• Halloween sprinkles

• Chopped nuts (if allergy-safe)

How to Make Apple Nachos

#1 Slice your apples thinly and spread them out on a large plate or platter. Drizzle with lemon juice to keep them fresh.

#2 Warm up your drizzles if needed (especially nut butters or caramel) to make them easier to pour.

#3 Let the kids take over!
Set out small bowls with the toppings and let them drizzle, sprinkle, and snack their way through.

Halloween Twist: Spooky Apple Nachos

Make them Halloween-party ready by using:

• Black and orange sprinkles

• Gummy worms for a “creepy crawly” vibe

• Purple and green candy melts

• Marshmallow ghosts or candy eyeballs on top

• Rename it “Witch’s Nacho Cauldron” and you’ve got yourself a spooky hit!

Want to give it a campy twist? Try making apple nachos as part of a fall backyard camping night or outdoor snack session. Wrap apple slices and toppings in foil, warm gently over a fire or grill, and serve as a melty treat under the stars. Just don’t forget the flannel blankets and flashlights!

Apple nachos are the kind of snack that checks all the boxes: easy, fun, seasonal, and kid-approved. Whether you’re trying to make snack time more exciting or need a fast, festive idea for a fall gathering, this is a recipe you’ll turn to again and again.
