Hi, I’m Matt, your art counselor with Happy Camper Live. Today we’re going to paint some walking sticks. Start by dividing your stick into 6 or 7 different parts, with each part having a different pattern or color. Take some black paint and draw a line across the stick, dividing it into equal parts. You can do a solid color for a section, or polka dots, stripes, zig zags, or whatever you like. A sponge brush is an excellent brush to use for this activity. If you happen to accidentally paint over one of the black lines, you can go back over it with black again to refine the edges. A painted walking stick can be really cool to carry around with you at camp, or when you go on a hike. Once you’ve painted all the sections, you can even add words to your stick. Now that you’ve seen how it’s done, go out and find a stick and paint away.
