Hey campers! It’s Jason, the magic counselor here at Happy Camper Live. I’m here with Rachel, and I’m going to show you a very simple magic trick that’s really impressive. This is how the trick works: You’ll first pull a card and give it to your friend. For example, the first card is 2 of spades. Give that to your friend and have them hold it face down in their palm and place their other hand on top. Next, take the next card and wave it over the top of your friend’s hand, and when you flip your card over, you’ll see that it is now the 2 of spades!This is how you do it: You use a duplicate card. So what you want to do is get another deck of cards and take a duplicate card out. Ideally, you should pick 2 cards that contrast, so one red and one black. In your hand, the setup should be: A duplicate, a random card, and the other duplicate. Place these 3 cards on top of the deck. The first move is called a double lift. To do this, you push over the top 2 cards with your thumb and then pull them back. While you pull back, you stick your pinky underneath them in what’s called a break. This will allow you to turn over the top 2 cards as one, leaving your audience to believe you are only using one card. When you flip the cards over, you show the second card, then flip it back over, and hand it to your friend face down. Since you have the break and are actually flipping over 2 cards, you are actually handing them your duplicate card, while showing them another card. Be sure you don’t hand them the card face up, or let them look at it!Next, you do a double lift again, to show the duplicate card, and then flip it back over, and take the top card, which is actually their card. Finally,you pretend that the magic is happening as you wave the card over your friend’s hand, turn over your card and look surprised. Then your friend turns over their card and you’ve just pulled off an amazing card trick!
