Sitting lakeside for a quiet nighttime campfire, Lucas and Louise speak
to the group about gratitude and honor; and after the team learns the camp song
from Head Counselor Michael, they dance around the raging campfire for a night
of bonding. Finally, in a traditional
ceremony, each camper is given a piece of bark with one important word written
on it – like bravery, friendship, or courage - and the campers take a solemn
moment to reflect on the concepts. Once
the stories are told, the campers solemnly toss their bark into the burning
flame so their dreams and hopes can become part of the memories of camp that
will last forever.
